Shaun Cassidy is an American singer, songwriter, writer and producer. He has produced and created quite a number of television shows, like American Gothic, Roar and Invasion. He was also the executive producer and writer for New Amsterdam, the medical drama show on NBC.

Early Life And Childhood

Shaun Cassidy was born on 27th September, 1958 in Los Angeles, California, the United States of America. He is the son of Shirley Jones, an Academy Award winning actress, and Tony award winning actor Jack Cassidy. He is the younger half brother of David Cassidy, who is also a popular musician, singer and songwriter. He has a younger brother named Patrick Cassidy who is an actor, popular in the world of theatre and music.

Career

When Shaun Cassidy was at the tender age of that of a high school student, he was approached with a contract by Mike Curb’s division of Warner Bros. Records, and upon signing that contract, he began to record music. His music career was pretty much an instant hit, causing him to produce quite a couple of hit singles all over America. This resulted in the release of his first ever solo album, self titled as Shaun Cassidy. It was released in 1977. This album ended up being a multi platinum album, topped the charts and also earned him a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. He had many more back to back album releases which had the same result, all of them became super hits and topped the charts. However, by the release of his third album, which sold millions of copies, AM Radio started to decline and his appeal as a teen star started to fade. His fourth album, Room Service, did not make it to the Billboard 200. His final album release was in 1980, and the name of the album was Wasp. During the 1980s and the early 1990s, Shaun Cassidy concentrated on acting, particularly stage acting. He starred in Broadway and West End productions such as Bus Stop and Mass Appeal. He won a Drama Logue award for his performance in Diary of a Hunger Strike at the L.A.T.C. by Mark Sheriden. His last stage performance was opposite his half brother David Cassidy in the production Blood Brothers. During this time, he wrote the plot for his very first television pilot, American Gothic. This opened a long term contract with Universal Television.

Ever since he created American Gothic, he had been actively taking part in the production department. He has created and written many shows, like Invasion, which starred Heath Ledger, Ruby and the Rockits, which starred his brothers David and Patrick, and New Amsterdam, starring Ryan Eggold.

In 2021, after almost forty years, he took his one-man show The Magic of a Midnight Sky to the stage, playing to standing-room-only crowds all over America.

Personal Life

Shaun Cassidy got married three times and from all his marriages, he has eight children. His first marriage was to Ann Pennington, a former model and Playboy Bunny. They were married from 1979 before divorcing in 1993. From this marriage, he has three kids Caitlin, Jake and a stepdaughter Jessica.

In 1995, he married Susan Diol. They have a daughter named Juliet. They got divorced in 2003.

Since 2004, he has been married to Tracey Lynne Turner, who is a producer. Together, they are parents to four kids, Caleb (born 2005), Roan (born 2006), Lila (born 2008), and Mairin (born 2011).
